iamkyami has a distinctive indie-R&B sound that wraps its warm, electronic sounds around the listener. ‘Stars’ is centred on a delicate electric piano at first, before exploding outwards into a backing-vocal-littered beat that hits us with thick synths and powerful drums. “The song is essentially about society, and how we treat others because of exterior variables that affect what boxes other people put us in,” they explain. “Variables such as socioeconomic status, race, and sexuality, when in reality, we’re all just humans that need to be treated with love and respect.” Keep an eye on the Manchester-based artist over the next few months. -Dan Peeke
